Overview

Established in 1979, The City College is one of the oldest independent institutions catering for Home and EU students and those with permanent residency, indefinite leave to remain or refugee status in the UK. Over the years, thousands of students have successfully completed their studies at The City College and have progressed to higher studies in Universities in the UK and overseas or secured successful careers in a variety of fields.

Common Room
facilities2

The common room occupies a large area on the 2nd floor, and is equipped with vending machines that provide a variety of refreshments. A microwave and a fridge are available for students who wish to bring their own food. Students can also meet and relax with friends, play pool or just watch television. The notice boards in this room show any college and local activities, as well as details of various trips/outings available on weekends, either within the UK or Europe.

Computer Facilities
facilities3

Two computer suites, equipped with modern computers, are available to all students – not just those pursuing computer courses. There are also computers available for general use in the library and the common room. Students are encouraged to research via the Internet and produce assignments and projects using computers. All computers are connected to the Internet and students may also use their handheld devices such as tablets/phones using the free college Wi-Fi network. All students have their own City College email address for all communications with the college. Students also have access to the College’s VLE so they can access course notes, hand-outs, related articles, assignments and administrative information whether on College premises or accessing it remotely from home. The College also has a presence on Facebook and Twitter for sharing information about the College and its courses publicly.

Library
facilities4

The City College library facilities are for reference purposes only, but there are other public and specialist libraries within the vicinity of the college that students have access to. Students may require an introductory letter or a student ID from the college in order to be able to use these libraries. In addition to the library offered by the City College, students are also encouraged to research online. There are links to free online libraries on the college’s VLE system and all students have access to the VLE once they are enrolled on a course.
